June 27
We have a long day planned! I spent the morning downloading our pictures and updating my blog. We are so lucky (and very happy) to have internet in our room. Then we had lunch around the corner of our hotel at
Meduzzy.
I had Bramborové noky na česneku se slanininou (Potato gnocchi with bacon and garlic). |
Aaron had Staročeský talíř (Old Bohemian plate of roast pork, beef and ham with potato and bread dumplings and gravy). |
We caught the Tram to
Hradčany up on the hill, which is a residential neighborhood attached to Prague Castle (Pražský hrad). It includes government and embassy offices and elaborate palaces.

Černín Palace (1666) is the home of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the largest palace in Prague. |
Loreta was built in 1626 in the Baroque style. |

Walking down Kapucínská |
Walking back to the Loretánská. We stopped at one of the bars for a beer (and to use the bathroom). |
Toskánský Palace |
Schwarzenberg Palace from the 16th century has a scraffito facade and is an example of a typical Czech Renaissance house used by the Habsburgs and now used by the National Gallery. |
The designs are etched in stone, not painted! Wow! |
The Archbishop's Palace is a Rococo building from the 18th century. |
Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk Monument, after the first President of Czechoslovakia who united the Czechs and Slovaks into one nation at the end of WWI. |
A spectacular view of Prague |
Come on! Let's go to the Castle!! |
