I don't know it yet but the cr@p keeps piling...

I met Peggi and Michael for lunch at Beethoven's Bagels in Oberlin on Friday. I had fun catching up and doing something other than work! I wanted to get a facial after lunch but I was out of luck. There were no openings that afternoon so I went home and fell asleep. Wow I needed the rest! I decided I wouldn't read my email on the weekend hoping I can relax and not worry so much about work.

Later Aaron and I were on the way out to dinner but unfortunately we got a call that Rick was on the way to the hospital. His pacemaker went off and shocked him off his feet. We ended up picking up Grandma Brlas and hanging out at the hospital to make sure Rick was settled. We did go for dinner eventually at Smitty's down the street from the hospital. Aaron and I love the Smitty burgers which are similar to a Big Mac.

On Saturday Aaron and I woke up early to help Rick and open the church's gym for high school volleyball. Did you know Aaron used to work at the gym when he was young? We also took Grandma to visit Rick in the hospital. After, Aaron worked on a home project building shelves for his new speakers. I caught up with more sleep. We managed to go out again and took Keala and Ikaika shopping at Petsmart. Aaron and I love showing off our babies to people and our babies love shopping. Keala has never had a problem socializing with humans, especially kids. I do worry about her with other dogs, never knowing if she'll show domination. Ikaika's the total opposite of Keala -- he sniffs and gets along with other dogs but he's a nervous wreck when kids come at him from all directions. He backs up and hides behind me or Aaron. My big baby! But each time we bring them out, Ikaika's getting better at socializing. Since the weather was bad we ended up staying home the rest of the night.

Sunday... I finally opened up my emails and work stress returned with full force. A third attendant of mine decided to quit work. Once again I'll have to plan to interview and hire, along with rearranging the desk schedule again and starting my training sessions.

My brain is numb...

I can't take it anymore...

My schedule hasn't slowed down, at all! I attended Jane's Junior recital on Sunday. She is such an accomplished violinist -- I am so amazed and proud of her! Now she's on her way to a competition so she'll be gone for a week. When I came back from the recital I had to deal with yet another Senior of mine who is overwhelmed with school and work. I decided to give her the week off too in hopes that she get her act together, and soon!

Meanwhile I'm still hanging on for dear life trying to do training here and there with my 10 new hires while the desk has been busy at night. That meant, no aerobics for me this week! Add to the desk stress, we finally got our brand new Mac laptops which I had to prep and label before they could be used. One more project to my list! It should have been an easy task and done in one day, but no, the printer I needed to use was not cooperating! Augh! It took me an extra day and I wasted too much time on it.

I regrouped mid-week with my boss Allison and made plans to get back on track. But that doesn't mean I'll be less busy. No!!! But I'll be a little more organized with some help along the way, which is always a good thing for an anal retentive gal like me! I'll be doing group training sessions again, much better than doing 10 individual training sessions. I'll start that up next week but I'll need to do some training this week so the last 2 hires can catch up to the rest. Wish me luck!

I started my weekend squeezing in some time to hang out with Michael. We finally got to see G's movie Gamer!! It was the last day in the theater. G made my day, as always!

I need some sleep!

Where did the extra time go?

Aaron and I had a lot to do on Saturday. First we packed up Keala and Ikaika and we drove to Oberlin to attend the Doggie Do festival. Local organizations and pet vendors come out and dogs of all types come out to mingle. I'm amazed and delighted -- Keala was on her best behavior and didn't tell other dogs where to go, and Ikaika met many other dogs and backed up when all the children crowded him.

Two Great Pyrenees, Keala being the mature female and Chloe being a puppy with a dress
An half hour into the festival, I left Aaron and the dogs to go get my hair cut. After we dropped off the dogs at home and went out for lunch at Fat Boy's Brewery in North Olmsted. We were going to shop around for surround sound speakers but ended up going home to rest a bit before going out again.

We went to Mike and Brenda Thrasher's wedding reception later that night, going around in circles trying to find DeLuca's in the Park in Amherst. Thrasher is Kyle's best friend and has hung out with the Brlas boys over the years. Thrasher even came to our wedding in Hawai'i.

Now I'm exhausted. You know what we go back to tomorrow...

What is going on...

Well another one of my college students quit at work! Once again I'm putting everything aside to find another first-year to fill the open desk shifts. I am finally feeling the pressure and exhaustion -- can you believe I'm falling behind in training? I've been doing the same tasks for 9 years now and have endured students quitting before. I don't know why it seems so different this semester.

I did manage to sneak away on Tuesday and go aerobics. Boy did I need the workout! I felt better and had a little boost of energy. It was a nice way to get my frustrations out. I also decided to go out to dinner with Michael on Thursday. It was nice to stop thinking of work for an hour and catch up with Michael. If I didn't have these two timeouts from work, I would have snapped midway!

Aaron and I won't get much downtime this weekend. We are helping Cookie make her reception invitations and labels today. And we are busy tomorrow...

Busy as a bee!

It's the second week of classes and I'm crazy busy! One desk attendant went home for a family emergency for the whole week and the holiday was around the corner so we started off with subs to fill. I ended up working Sunday until 2 a.m.! Another desk attendant decided to quit this week so more subs where needed and I ended up spliting my time between training the 8 new hires, and emailing and interviewing new applicants. I amazingly filled the position and trained her a little before my week was up! A pat on my back is in order!

At least I was able to relax a bit this weekend. Aaron and I was suppose to hang out with Dave Andras and Shannon at the Lake Erie Crushers Friday playoffs but they couldn't get away from work and Aaron and I ended up going to the baseball game ourselves. We had awesome 3rd row seats behind home plate (thank you Dave!) and discovered my boss Allison and her husband Claire a few rows behind us! We were so close I felt it was my duty to check out all the players on deck.... wohhh! All manly but oh soooooo young... they could be my sons! The Crushers won against the Kalamazoo Kings. After the game we went to visit Dave and Shannon at Bullfrog's and had a late dinner.

If you can see the umpire, we were sitting behind them, to the right of the visitor's dugout

On Saturday, we had Grandma Chury and Uncle Bruce over for a visit and dinner. I cooked a chicken stir-fry while Grandma showed us how to place a horse board game and two card games. They liked dinner and we enjoyed the games.

It's back to work for Aaron and I this afternoon!

My babies walking my big boy... yep, it's getting cooler! It was 42 degrees last night!

GIRLIE UPDATE: Gamer

Got to love a man in uniform! Mr. Butler looked hot and HE-KICKED-ASS! I admit I closed my eyes half of the time when people were getting killed left and right, but I liked the movie. I'm glad the story line was different from Mr. Statham's Death Race. I was a little nervous it would be a copy cat and no one will like it as much. Aaron liked the movie. We had a nice lunch and movie date today!

Now I need to drag Michael to see it...

IUI ALERT: First consultation

My wait to be called in to the office was longer than the appointment itself! I lucked out and didn't have to do any more tests. I met with Dr. Farrow instead of Dr. Kovach -- she was leaving for a delivery -- and Dr. Farrow gave us our referral to the Cleveland Clinic. Next task, look into the 3 fertility specialists, make our selection and set up our first appointment. Here we go!
