MOVIE ALERT: Cars 2

Ka-chow! Cars 2 did not disappoint. It had everything I love -- good graphics, car races, spies, lots of comedy, a little romance, fun action and travels and cultures of Tokyo, Italy and London! Aaron, Khyla and Anrey liked it too! I can see it being a good movie to watch in 3-D. Fun for the whole family!

And what a delightful short film they showed before the feature film, with the Toy Story characters! It has a Hawaiian theme. I guess Toy Story 4 is in the works.

GIRLIE UPDATE: My name is Craig, Mrs. Craig

He finally did it! I'm not sure how I feel but I wonder if there was a reason for a quick wedding.

Both he and Ms. Weisz were in long relationships before they started dating. And it was a short courtship. Congrats, I guess. You're a lucky girl Rachel!

Lorain County International Festival

We had a slow start but we finally made it to the yearly festival for a late lunch. We were all attracted to the Filipino booth over Puerto Rican, Greek and the rest of the national booths. Unfortunately my chicken adobo was not even vinegary. Junk! Their noodles had the essence of pancit. Aaron tried their BBQ pork and fried rice. Gosh I miss my daddy's adobo!

The horrible noise in the background was Russian
We redeemed ourselves by having dessert -- Khyla got ice cream from the Americana booth, Aaron got baklava from the Greek booth and I got snoogles from the Polish booth.

On our walk back to the car we stopped at the bazaar to look at international items. Aaron ended up buying us earrings from Peru. How sweet! What's that in the air? Eewww... June bugs everywhere!!

We are going to have dinner with the Meade's later tonight!

GIRLIE UPDATE > MOVIE ALERT: Green Lantern

Khyla and I went to see a movie after work and studying today. I was pleasantly surprised! I didn't know the premises of Green Lantern but it was explained simply, unlike Thor's storyline that kept going back and forth.

It helped that Mr. Reynolds was the star and playing a bad-ass pilot. (I couldn't find any half-clothed photos of him.) It had a little of everything -- action, romance and comedy. I think Aaron might of liked this one!

Oh well, on our way home to make dinner. Aaron worked OT in the early morning then went for a haircut after work. A long day for Brlas! Aloha Friday everyone!

Math Schmath!

I am so over schoolwork! There's a reason I longed to graduate from college... so I never had to study again! But apparently it never ends. Having a child in the house only means never ending studying. And with a teenager it means HARD homework! Oy

MOVIE ALERT: The Hangover II

Oh Lord I did it again. I don't remember the first Hangover to be so raunchy as this one! I have to stop bringing my niece to these movies. Bad Aunty! Kudos to Mr. Cooper!

KHYLA KONNECTION: Oberlin Heritage Center Tour

Check out my niece giving a tour of the historical Monroe house and surrounding school house with her program friends. She gave a speech in front of a group of visitors, including Aaron and I. We are so proud of her!

GIRLIE UPDATE: Introducing... Mr. Egglesfield

So I think I've made my decision of who should take Mr. Cavill's place as FBF... meet Colin Egglesfield. I first recognized him in the movie SWAT and then recently in an episode of Hawaii Five-O. He took my breath away in the movie Something Borrowed.

Now I know he did not win my poll races that my Girlies took to help me. I should have picked from O'Loughlin, Reynolds or Evans. But I guess I'm the one who ultimately decides who I want to follow and obsess about, right? I'm looking forward to watching more future projects in both TV and movie land!

All I can say is... NICE!

Buffalo chicken and pig roast

I went with Aaron to the Melt Bar and Grilled for dinner to try their two specials. We went around 5 p.m. hoping we would be early than the usual dinner crowd but we still had to wait an hour and a half. It should have been more busy than it was but I think the city was attending the Indians baseball game. It was a beautiful day for it.

We both had the Dortmunder (that's a beer!) ham and cheese soup first. Aaron tried the Buffalo chicken sandwich which had a bleu cheese sauce and celery in it and ranch dressing for dipping, accompanied with fries. I had the pig roast sandwich which had sweet potatoes and slaw in it, accompanied with potato salad and a grilled garlic corn on the cob. ONO! And that's not all! We just had to try the strawberry shortcake bread pudding! We did bring most of our food home as leftovers -- lunch for the next two days, great!

Poor Khyla was feeling under the weather and decided to stay home. Thanks Baby for letting us go out on a date with no chaperone.

Tak - tak - tak - tak

Oh no, our garage door opener broke today! Aaron's going to have to take the day off now to fix it. At least he was granted the day off already for the wedding tomorrow.

2011 PHILLY: July vacation is set!

We are driving to Philadelphia, PA for a family vacation with my sister and niece! Tim's joining us too. Aaron's wanted to go to Philly for awhile now. Its one more place to pin on our travel map!

MOVIE ALERT: Bridesmaids

Holy dirty! I didn't think it was going to be that raunchy!

The first scene was filled with S-E-X and poor Khyla had to close her eyes. Hopefully she didn't catch all the adult jokes. But Amanda, Anrey, Adam, Michael, Luis and I thought it was hilarious. Constant laughter throughout the flick. And YES I cried through most of the movie. I don't know what was wrong with me... so hormonal.

Break your Mama's back...

... dadadadada... crack that whip! dadadadada... give the past the slip... dadadadada... step on the crack... dadadadada...

So it's been 5 days now and my back is hurting more than usual. It must have been my knee slam last Thursday because it gets sore after sitting down for more than an hour, which I should be used to every day, and the pain is primarily all on the right side of my body, okole cheek included. I've been taking 1 ibuprofen a day and its not going away. I'm going to try a Thermacare wrap to see if heat will do the trick. Otherwise... oh boy.

GIRLIE UPDATE: Movie 43 release date

They announced the release date to now be April 13, 2012. G is playing a dirty mouth leprechaun. It has been a long, long wait since filming in 2010!

Look who's trying to be just like my hubby! You need to go to the park, Handsome!

DA PUPS: Tofu

We discovered Keala and Ikaika loves tofu! I thought for sure Ikaika wouldn't like it. He's so picky about "textures". I guess the tofu in my Indian food was firm enough for him.

What a gash!

Aaron had a crash while mountain biking today. He bashed his arm into rocks and was pretty bloody. Hopefully the Neosporen will do the job like stitches.

MOVIE ALERT: X-Men: First Class

The Wild Circulation Bunch went out for a movie and dinner tonight!

I liked the flick because it explained the beginnings of the X-Men series and how the characters came together as well as apart. I knew McAvoy and Fassbender was going to be in it. I was surprised to see Kevin Bacon, and as the villain! Also the cute boy from the Hanna Montana movie was in it. And who was Riptide? Shout out to Till and Gonzalez.

Anrey, Kristen, Anna and Tam
After the show we drove across the street to Cafe Tandoor for some Indian food. Everything was delicious although Khyla didn't eat much. I'm not sure if she didn't like it or if she ate too many cookies before dinner. She did enjoy the Nan dipped in curry sauce.

What a nice relaxing night out with the co-workers! Looking forward to RELAXING at home now...

Girl's night out

Since Khyla finished her math and Spanish lessons for today, and I completed my fine invoices project, we treated ourselves to a fast dinner at Bellacino's and went to see the movie Super 8. I wanted to take her to see Thor but they were only showing it in 3-D now and a time before I finished work or really late at 10:30 p.m. I figure she would enjoy this movie since the main characters were her age and it had the spooks that she likes.

We did a bit of food shopping before heading home to relax.

I fell down!

No I wasn't sprinting over book trucks or climbing on stools to reach the books on the top shelf... I fell at the bottom of some stairs because my slippers slipped on the concrete. I wasn't rushing or anything. One foot went one way and the other foot went the other way. I want to say I did a split but I actually landed hard on my right knee and was up in a lounge position. My arms were up on both sides as I tried to hold on to my bags full of food, laptop and an iPad. So it was more like a superhero pose. Only I had my raincoat hoodie on and it happened to be covering my face. So it was more like a lost superhero posing. Khyla missed the slipping because she was walking in front of me. But she witnessed the awkward position trying to catch myself.

I'm thinking I'll get a huge black bruise on my knee now. I just hope I didn't injury my back. That's all I need at this old age...

GIRLIE UPDATE: Playing the Field release date

They announced the release date to be March 9, 2012. It has been a little over a year since one of his movies came out to watch! And I have to wait almost another year for this one?

Hopefully Machine Gun Preacher will come out in September or Coriolanus will come to the U.S. in November to tide me over...

Kiwani strawberry & ice cream social

I woke up with a migraine and body aches. I decided to call in sick and stay home in the darkness of my room. It turned out to be a beautiful day that I slept away. At least Aaron and Khyla got to enjoy it with a bike ride down to the neighborhood park.

Cookie had paid for us to attend a strawberry festival tonight so I got ready and we headed out to meet her. Strawberry shortcake and ice cream -- ono! We didn't stay long. My "tummy" demanded to go home.

MOVIE ALERT: Super 8 pre-screening

Adam, Anrey and I went to see Super 8 tonight in Valley View. It's the Goonies meet Aliens, or in this case Alien. It was a mix of everything -- comedy, spook, action, alien, cool music, romance (innocent kine) and drama. Yes, I cried. I liked it a lot!

Poor Khyla had to stay home and finish her studies for the day. I think she would have liked this movie too.

GIRLIE UPDATE: Guess who was in Maui?

Someone must be taking surf lessons again for his upcoming movie Maverick. What a nice way to spend the weekend.

Looking good G!

GIRLIE UPDATE: James Bond 23 release date

They announced the US release of the next James Bond flick to be November 9, 2012. Filming will start this December.

That's a mighty long wait Mr. Craig! Luckily you have 3 movies coming out this year -- Cowboys & Aliens, Dream House and the Adventures of Tintin.

2nd Mohican MTB 100 - 1st 100k

Congratulations to Aaron who finished the race this year! He did the 100k (62 miles) in 11 hours and 44 minutes. There was no storm this time but it was hot and humid! GOOD JOB! If you ask him if he'll do it again, he'll say he's retiring from biking! Give it a couple of days... [Aaron's official race time was 11 hours and 28 minutes -- he started after the 100-mile riders.]
