GIRLIE UPDATE: Dawn of War

Cavill's next movie will be Dawn of War where he plays Greek warrior Theseus. Looks like another history and mythology lesson for me! Or a new PS3 game for Aaron. Filming hasn't begun yet and it looks like it will be released in 2011. I can't wait to see HC in a leading role, but it's going to be a long one! I'll have to be content with all things The Tudor's this year.

Tsunami Saturday

My sister woke me up with a call stating a tsunami was expected in Hilo at about 5 p.m. EST today. Tita had to get up and help man the Lodge at Koele. Aunty Peggy and Uncle Mike closed S. Tokunaga Store since it is on the edge of the evacuation zone and no one was allowed to drive downtown. Mom got the day off and hung out at Aunty's house. Luckily nothing happened and all was spared.

Aaron and I had a slow start but we managed to get out today. We had lunch at Hershey's Ice Cream. We had chicken paprikash, yum! We dropped off dinner to Jen Starkey and finally met little Miss Fiona -- so tiny and wanting to be fed! We braved the snow shower and winds and drove to Great Northern Mall and walked the mall. Finally we drove to Oberlin and had a drink before watching The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus at the Apollo Theatre. I'm glad we got out of the house. I was getting a bit restless! Where's spring?

It's back to work tomorrow...

Nino's, va bene?

It's girl's night with Megan, and we opted for Italian food at Nino's. Can you believe I've gone there before her? And we drove through the snow shower to meet?

The meal was delizioso! And the conversation was interesting, as usual. I'm glad to have Megan as my good friend!

... or not!

This morning was rough, starving myself of food and drink the night before, getting little sleep and waking up early for my endoscopy. I missed the call that it got canceled because I went to work with Cookie at 8 a.m. and was hanging out at the library until my 11 a.m. appointment time. But the pain continued because I had no car to drive home. I waited at the library until Cookie's lunch break at 1 p.m. I managed to get coffee and a donut from the cafeteria and a quick nap in the comfy recliners until the sun was shining in my face. I fell asleep again and woke up scaring myself with a snore! Cookie and I ended up having a nice lunch at Ruby Tuesday. I felt a little better getting food in my empty belly!

My head was pounding by the time I got home. Using my eye glasses probably added to the headache. A long nap took are of that! I got up in time to head over to kickboxing class. Yes! I turned an upsetting morning to my advantage and let out some steam at aerobics! I felt much better after that and headed to work. But I only lasted a couple of hours. The warmth of Mudd library put me in a relaxed state and I was pretty much useless at work.

And the drive home was stressful! The snow was coming down and no roads were shoveled or salted! I'm glad to finally be home! I found a nice surprise in the form of dinner already made -- chicken pot pie! Thanks Brlas! Life is good again... until I have to starve myself for the procedure.

I'm going under...

Today is my endoscopy procedure. Just checking if I have an ulcer. Aaron's also having a CAT scan done to check for a hernia. Gosh we sound like an old couple! More like an old married couple who give each other pains in the --- gut! Ha! Better to be safe than sorry!

I'm going under anesthesia so I'll probably call off sick tonight and sleep the day away. I'm sad because today is kickboxing day, and Rachel and Sam was planning to join me. No working out and driving through Burger King...

GIRLIE UPDATE: Introducing... Mr. Cavill

OK I've decided! Since the Butler's recent comings and goings seem suspicious of foolishness, I've replaced my favorite actor with the younger Brit, Mr. Cavill. G, what are you doing?

H was a pleasant surprise I discovered while watching Whatever Works. I haven't seen all of his movies yet so I'll be immersing myself in everything Cavill! Unfortunately there's not much he's done. After all he's a young buck. I guess I'll just have to watch the first 3 seasons of the Tudors until season 4 starts in April. I'll be content.

As my Tita described him... yummy!
My office pictures and screensavers are changing...

P.F. Chang's and Smitty's

Started the day helping Cookie movie her AV equipment to Washington Avenue. I love her and Ken's house! It's big and spacious, unlike our cozy ranch on Michigan Avenue. And the dogs would love the backyard! I always walk in and start thinking of all the things I would do to the house if I was living there, since its a bit dated. If only Ken would let Cookie do some home improvements, she would probably feel more at home. On the way home we stopped for lunch at Mr. Hero's.

Aaron took a short nap before we got ready for a night out with Jay and Jen. They picked us up and we headed into Cleveland to have dinner at PF Chang's Chinese Bistro. I liked the atmosphere and the food was typical. Nothing real special.

We headed back to Elyria and decided to get some drinks at Smitty's. It was nice to catch with friends we don't get to see often. It's been awhile since I listened to country music too! Yeeeehhaaaawwww!

Errands day

A typical day off for us -- getting out the house (late) and doing errands. Went to the bank, public library, lunch at the Olive Garden, Pier 1 and BJ's. After Aaron settled in to playing his PS3 while I read my book and slept in. A lazy day!

Lisa trumps the desk schedule!

Amazing! I managed to settle the desk schedule in a day and half, and I didn't have to hire a newbie! My current crew is awesome! Now, let them stay healthy and not spread-too-line to need subs all semester! I vow to make an effort to cover subs when I'm able so they don't feel overwhelmed, like all good college students are!

A pat on my back! Now to settle my schedule and work in aerobics...

Aerobics buddy

Rachel joined me to kickboxing class today! I'm glad she enjoyed it -- I hope she can go every week with me! Of course we celebrated me breaking free from work and Rachel going to workout by going through Burger King's drive-thru on our way back to Oberlin! We need to break that habit, immediately!

Three strikes again...

I got the news that another student worker of mine is leaving school and taking a personal leave. What is going on? I guess I'll need to hire a new attendant this semester as I hoped not. My current crew has already taken hours to cover the first two defectors. Boo.

Oh wait, two of my attendants want more hours! Cross fingers that I can accommodate them and fill the desk schedule...

Hard working Valentine's

I woke up with a stuffy, runny nose, no! Not when I'm working extra today!

I went into work early to prep for our staff meeting and managed to "Kermit the frog" my way through updates and schedule changes. I didn't have the energy to give the "you fool around at work-and you get fired" lecture this time. Thankfully there wasn't much to change and the meeting was short. I had so much to do but I couldn't stop blowing my nose or see through my teary eyes so I ended up going home early.

I passed out as soon as I changed my clothes and took off my contacts. I totally missed Valentine's Day!

Ulcer alert

Amazing! I stayed up all night/morning so I could go to my 6:15 a.m. doctor's appointment this morning. Just checking if I have something more serious than heartburn. It ended up being a consultation than an actual procedure.

Doc says I need to exercise and lose some weight (Ah, yeah! I only wish he could have prescribed me an order to my boss to let me go aerobics 2x a week!). No laying off certain kinds of foods or drink. So quick fix, right? Once I can get my work schedule settled I'll go back to the gym again and will do more when the weather warms up. I can't wait.

But the doctor wants to check me out anyway so I'll have a endoscopy done this week... no ulcers! No ulcers!

Friday is Friends Day!

The weather sucked so I had to drive Aaron to work today. I decided to go to work and tackle all those recommendation letters my students need for after graduation/summer school and work. I love to be productive!

After I met Greggor for a drink at the Feve. I had a great time catching up with him. He always makes me laugh. We need to hang out more!

Sam was done with her application meeting so I picked her up and we headed out for dinner and a movie. We had dinner at Bellacino's. I got a call from Jen Starkey telling me she was in the hospital waiting to deliver her baby! I felt bad I couldn't hop over and to sit with her until Dave arrived from work, but I just started dinner with Sam and already bought our movie tickets. Instead I talked to her until she felt calm. We called before the movie to tell me he was there and we would give me an update later.

Sam and I saw Valentine's Day. We loved it, especially the little twist at the end! Guess who we thought was hot?!

Cutey pies!

Hot stuff!

Gorgeous!
On our way back to Oberlin, I had a message from Dave saying Fiona Elisabeth Starkey was born at 10 p.m. and mommy and baby were fine. That was the fastest delivery ever! (I hope my first time would be that quick! When my time comes of course, not now!)

What an amazing day! I forgot that I had to wake up early to drive Aaron to work and pick him up at midnight!

Welcome back, Kickboxing!

I am a happy girl today! The desk schedule has been filled and the library was calm so I asked to go aerobics tonight. Man, it feels good to workout! Melody was happy to see me and I have been promoted to the front row now that the back row is filled with new faces. I am in pain now but it feels good!

Spring semester, baby!

Well the new semester has begun at Oberlin College, and I'm already scrambling to rearrange the desk schedule. I knew of one attendant who removed himself from the schedule last month. Another one just took a last minute personal leave a couple of days ago. This better not be another doozy semester where I'm hiring every other week! Please God, don't do this to me!

GIRLIE UPDATE: Dear John

After working some overtime I decided to go and see one of the many chick flicks out in the theater. Of course I saw my sister's pick, Dear John with her favorite actor CT. The theater was filled with women -- giggly women, screaming women -- woohh! It was a sweet and touching love story. It reminded me of the time when I dated men in the military, being stood up by some for deployment, and being lucky that Brlas was getting out when we met. I left the movie with swollen eyes and a runny nose from crying so much! Ahhh, love...

Channing's hot! In uniform... and out!

Winter storms and pedicures

The snow storm started when my work week ended. It took me an hour to drive home when it normally takes me 10 minutes!

After dinner, I picked up Jen Starkey and went to the mall. Of all the crazy things, we went to get pedicures! Jen needed some pampering now that she's at the end of our pregnancy. Two of us with flip-flops (aka slippahs), walking the mall! When our toenails were dry enough we put our boots back on and headed home to watch a movie. Jen picked Becoming Jane for our girls night in.

A fun evening without the boys!
