Math, market and biking

After work and studying math, Aaron took Khyla and I to the West Side Market in the afternoon. I wish I wasn't so hungry going there. We would have more time to look around. Most of our time was spent standing in line for gyros from Steve's Gyros. But it was worth it -- best ever! Each of bought one thing -- Aaron bought pepperoni for his spaghetti sauce, I bought snoogles (Polish pastry) and Khyla bought a monk (chocolate-raspberry mousse cake).

[Someone forgot the camera on this trip!]

On the way home, we stopped at Cold Stone Creamery for ice cream. I was tired so Aaron and Khyla dropped me home before they went biking at Burr Oak State Park in Elyria. They had a little collision and Khyla got some scrapes. But spirits were up and they had a great time.

MOVIE ALERT: Quaker Steak and the Last Airbender

The night is finally here to see The Last Airbender! Khyla, Aaron, Mike, Kiran and I drove over to Valley View and had a quick dinner at Quaker Steak before we headed over to the theater. We thought the long lines were for that little movie called Eclipse but one of the lines were for our pre-screening! The line literally went around the whole theater complex and this particular complex is huge! But we didn't stand in line for long. When we reached the front of the line a supervisor asked the scanner what capacity entered the theater, the girl said "387". I think it only held 500. Wooh, we made it! Everyone else in the back of the line didn't make it.

Overall I liked the movie but I didn't think it was outstanding. I was expecting more action and was disappointed when they cut the story in preparation for a sequel or two. I could have seen it in 2-D too. I guess it was good that the tickets were free!

IUI ALERT: Cramps or morning sickness?

I had a migraine and some cramping, the usual I get each month, boo. But I felt better by the time I got to work. I usually feel miserable all day and for the week! hmmm...

Cross your fingers!

A weekend for more studying

Khyla still needs to catch up with her studies so we stayed home from the birthday pool party she was invited to today. But she caught up!

Studious Friday

Aaron went back to work today. Khyla and I spent a low-key Friday. No movie night. No going to the Lorain International Festival. Just stayed home and STUDIED social studies. Gosh its been 30 years since I had to cram my brain with historical data. Lots of data, at once! My brain hurts! Nothing like one episode of The Tudors a week to absorb history or a fluffy romance novel to read a couple of hours at a time.

Lazy Thursday

We decided not to go Cedar Point today. Khyla spent the day with Aaron -- walking the dogs, riding bike and studying at the public library. After work I had lunch with Jen Starkey then had some time alone to nap and watch a movie before they came home. Then Aaron grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner. The sweet corn was ono! I ended the lazy day sleeping early.

OPERA ALERT: Romeo et Juliette

Khyla and I made it to lunch at Panera Bread in Avon before the storm hit and did some shopping at Old Navy -- got some shorts and jeans for Khyla and some new aerobics shirts for me. Then we headed over to Croker Park. We had planned to read a book and study over cocoa in Borders until our opera started at 6:30 p.m. but we were really tired and ended up taking a mini nap in the car. Yeah, we heated up fast! Aaron enjoyed the day riding his bike at Finley State Park and playing his PS3 while we were gone.

At last the night to see Romeo et Juliette arrived. It was the first opera for Khyla! She was impressed with the singing.

GIRLIE UPDATE: Pierogi and Mac &Cheese

Girl's night! Megan and I met for dinner at Bar Symon in Avon Lake. We got there just in time to partake in the happy hour menu -- margarita martini, pierogi with cabbage, pork sausage and mustard, half a serving of mac & goat cheese and ice blue salad. Oh and don't forget dessert -- apple and bacon bread pudding with cream. ONO! Good conversation and laughter as usual! We even talked sports and the world cup!

GIRLIE UPDATE: Happy birthday Jen Starkey!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

MOVIE ALERT: Toys and milkshakes

Since Khyla caught up with her math we took a break and saw Toy Story 3 in 3-D and had dinner at Steak and Shake.

IUI ALERT: The procedure

We went to Cleveland today... it's done! Now it's time to count until day 17! Let's cross fingers!

Musical alert... The Fiddler On the Roof

It's date night with my hubby -- dinner at Players on Madison and the musical Fiddler On the Roof at the Playhouse Square Palace Theater. It was a funny story but I had a hard time understanding the star of the play, Harvey Feirstein, with his raspy low voice. Aaron really like it!

Tevye and his 5 daughters...
Khyla spent the evening with Cookie and Ken. They went to dinner at Daddona's and hung out watching movies at Cookie's house.

GIRLIE UPDATE: The Tudors finale

The series has come to a close with my favorite actor the Duke dying and the king facing the end of his life. They even brought back the queens in a dream! I will miss it and Cavill on screen.

In younger times...Meyers as King Henry VIII and Cavill as Charles Brandon, the Duke of Suffolk

...and in their final years
It will be a long year without him acting -- his next flick the Immortals comes out in the fall of 2011.

Let's have a Smitty burger!

Before Aaron went out with the guys, he took us to Smitty's for dinner. See who's standing in the corner? He visited Smitty's for lunch back in January.

Enjoying a Smitty burger -- ONO!

Hello comfy couches!

Thank you Cookie for the new sofa and couch set! We love it! Sorry we have to cover them -- for hair and drool protection.

Pool party

Khyla was invited to a pool party with Casi and her friends so I dropped her off and relaxed at home. I'm still not feeling 100%. It was a beautiful day to spend out at the pool and playing volleyball.

It's a doggy dog summer!

Who's taller, Khyla or Keala?

Hanging out with mom in bed. Sorry dad! No room for you!

Hey, get back here!

Where's Khyla?

Keala asleep on the new couch, well half on the couch.

Thanks for the popcorn!

MOVIE ALERT: Valley View and Jonah Hex

Khyla and I went to see Jonah Hex tonight. It was an exciting adventure just getting there since I get anxious driving to new places and it was Khyla's first navigating task. But we made it there on time, got good seats before the theater filled up, and loaded up with hot dogs, popcorn and arare. I didn't know the story but I enjoyed the flick anyway.

Kiwani Strawberry Social

It was a busy afternoon for Khyla. We went to the central and west river branches of the public library where she got tons of CDs to listen to and another book to (attempt) read. Later Michael and Luis met us and Cookie at the strawberry festival. Yummy! Thank you Cookie for the treats! We are not doing much tonight... I'm feeling light headed again.

IUI ALERT: Hormones...

SUCK! I've experienced hot flashes and the chills for a couple of days now and it is a miserable feeling! Not to mention I've been dizzy and nauseous. And I'm not even pregnant yet!

MOVIE ALERT: A-Team and Wolfey's

Aaron and Mikey took Khyla and I to see The A-Team and to dinner at Wolfey's in Elyria. I actually like the movie and enjoyed my wings. But I started feeling sick soon after so I asked to be dropped off at home to lie down. Oy!

GIRLIE UPDATE: Happy Birthday Sam!

Have a wonderful summer and have fun in France!

A lazy weekend

Aaron fixed Khyla/my bike so they went around the block (more like 7 blocks) for a test run on Saturday. They went on another ride on Sunday. This time they went 4 miles!

Khyla on her GT mountain bike

Hot Rods

Thanks Mom for the handy tongs -- they help reach those hard-to-reach places!

I knew those toes would come in handy one day! Is that a Mac iPad you're holding up?

I felt under the weather today so we spent the day relaxing. Well Khyla did laundry and her studies while I slept. I hope its the medication and that I'm not truly sick. That would ruin my summer plans!

MOVIE ALERT: Kung Fu at the Apollo

Khyla and I went to see Karate Kid at the Apollo after work/school today. I was afraid both of us would fall asleep in the movie since we were so tired but the movie was so exciting -- we survived. OK so I cried 2 minutes into the flick and proceeded to cry throughout the entire movie. Always loved JC but the big movie star was little man Jaden. He's one talented kid!

Back to work!

It's been a busy three days since I've gone back to work. Still trying to get up early enough to make it to work on time and trying to stay up all day. Khyla's been trucking along with her studies, doing a math lesson in the morning, talking to her parents via Skype in the afternoon, having lunch with me, watches a kid's movie in a study room and finishing off with a social studies lesson. Great job!

Good thing we are going to see another movie tonight. We need some "downtime". Guess which one we are going to see...

Aaron's date with the ladies

After mowing the lawn Aaron took Khyla to get her hair cut.

Then he drove us into Cleveland to eat at a Mexican restaurant called Momocho.

Later we headed back to see Sex and the City 2. He should have gone to see Splice with Khyla instead. It would have been less painful.

I can see me and my girls putting on a karaoke show like this -- only not so irritating!

Thanks for a great date day! See Khyla's Konnection link for pictures.

IUI ALERT: Clomid cycle

I started taking Clomid today and for 5 days this week. The doctor has me on 100 mg instead of the standard 50 mg per day. Hopefully this will boost my chances of fertilization when we finally have the IUI done sometime next week. And hope it won't give me bad side effects like hot flashes, UTI or pimples! Wish me luck!

Sick and tired weekend

I felt sick so we hung out at home and had movie night on Saturday.

Aaron came back today so he took Khyla to the public library while I slept the afternoon away then made us a Mexican dinner.

Guess where we're going tomorrow? Khyla's making our lunch...

1st Mohican MTB 100

Aaron participated in a mountain biking race today with Brian.  They attempted to complete the 110k (62 miles) course but thunderstorms and rain threatened their chances.  They didn't finish but Aaron had fun, and got some "epic" experience!

Wings, Magna fries and MacnCheese

No success in waking up early and I felt crappy so it's schoolwork at home today. Aaron and I did some errands before he left for his Mohican 100 race and camping trip. Then Khyla and I got ready to go out with Michael and Luis.

We saw Killers and ate at Quaker Steak and Lube. A funny movie (Dang Ashton!), good food and a great time with friends!

School, shakes and spooks!

Khyla is finally settling down in your daily studies. She has worked on the kid's computers doing her math and social studies readings and assignments at the Elyria Public Library North branch at Lorain County Community College in Elyria. The library is new and not as busy as the central and West River branches I go to. And Cookie works here part of her week. This will change once I go back to work. Khyla will be hanging out at Oberlin College Library using the workstations in the commons area in front of my circulation desk.

During lunchtime, Cookie took us to Steak and Shake for some burgers and milkshakes. Then we headed back to the library to do another 2 hours of assignments. My wireless didn't connect so I ended up watching a movie and listened to music on my laptop.

We went home, played a bit of tennis on the driveway, showered and watched Daybreakers while eating dinner. Spooky! We ended the night by making cookies and reading a book. All in all a good, productive day. Oh but I'm feeling a bit under the weather now...
